Nirvana?

Yeah I know Nirvana's not the most current thing in music but I'm completely and totally in love.
I was reading an interview Alternative Press had done with several different people about Nirvana.
They had asked when the first heard Nirvana, favorite Nirvana song,What made them great, how Cobain impacted today's music, and what would be different if Cobain hadn't died?

So basically I'm gonna answer those questions and ask them to you as well.

First heard Nirvana: I do believe it was probably in 2006 or so.
My cousin showed me the song "The Man Who Sold The World" and that made me fall in love.

Favorite Nirvana Song: Either "All Apologies" or "Come As You Are"

What made them great: Kurt's amazing voice. The lyrics were also just so bizarre, yet deep all at once.
And they played cause they enjoyed to or at least that's how it seems to me.

How Cobain's music impacted today: In my opinion they just seemed to influence many bands, and made music more about loving it than just being famous.

What would be different if Cobain hadn't died: Well there would probably be a lot more great music from Nirvana, and maybe Courtney Love wouldn't be such a mess. But then again maybe if he hadn't died Nirvana wouldn't be half of what they are. In some ways I think that people love Nirvana so much because of Kurt's suicide.

New solo

Andrew Goldstein the former front-man of The Friday Night Boys has put a song of his solo project.
The song is entitled "I Like You Like That"
And can be heard here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkbP8iegsNM&feature=player_embedded#!

The song sounds really good.
And I think he'll do well on his own.

Set Your Goals album!

Set Your Goals are back in the studio recording a new album!

A few bands to follow

Twitter seems to be lately the place to go to find some good music.
Bands will follow you to get the word out about themselves.
And if you take the time to listen to them you usually find some you'll like.
Here are a few that I enjoy.

A Midsky Surrender!

Not being able to sleep sometimes leads to some interesting discoveries.
Once again via Twitter I've found another great band.
There name is A Midsky Surrender.
They're kinda post-hardcore-ish.
I enjoy them quite a bit especially their song It's Like Cancer But Not So Destroyable.

Birthdaay

Happy Birthday Andy Sixx!

Trey Tremain's List of Top Albums of the Year

I must say I like Trey Tremain's list of top albums of 2010.
He's included some really excellent albums.
Such as:
* A Day To Remember's What Separates Me From You
It falls very close to the top on my list simply because it's amazing!

*Alexisonfire's Dog's Blood
I was kinda disappointed with it, but nonetheless I love Alexisonfire.

*As I Lay Dying's The Powerless Rise
It was good

*Bring Me The Horizon's There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret.
I've already explained my reasons for loving this.

*Circa Survive's Blue Sky Noise
Anthony Green's voice is fantastic!

*You Me At Six's Hold Me Down
I'm just a big fan of them.

I didn't include all of his list.
I just picked a few to comment on, but the entire list can be seen here:

Eyes Like Diamonds

Twitter is an excellent way to finds good music.
As well as get a band known.
A band called Eyes Like Diamonds started following me as of recent
And I must say they're really good!
I love their song Til Death Do Us Part.

Dead Press!'s Top Albums of 2010

Dead Press! has a list of the top 15 albums of 2010.
They are as follows(as well as my opinion):

15)Four Year Strong's Enemy of the World.
Personally I wouldn't put this on my list mostly because I liked their older work better.

14)The Word Alive's Deceiver.
I actually enjoyed this.
I like the World Alive quite a bit.
Honestly this is where Craig Mabbitt needed to stay though.

13)Lower Than Atlantis' Far Q
I can't comment on this one much because I didn't listen to it.

12) Chiodos'  Illuminaudio
It was okay.
Chiodos just isn't that great without Craig Owens.
I tend to like most bands earlier work better.

11)Underoath's Disambiguation
I liked it but it's not the same without Aaron.

10) Martyr Defiled's Collusion
I haven't listened to the full album, but what I have of it is really good.

9)We Are The In Crowd's Guaranteed To Disagree
I love this.
To me it's like taking A Rocket To The Moon, Paramore, and The Summer Set and putting them all into the one.

8)Bring Me The Horizon's There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret.
This is a really great album.
It was certainly different than previous albums of theirs.
But different in a good way.
I like the fact that they did songs with Lights.

7) Pulled Apart By Horses'  Pulled Apart By Horses
Not a band I've listened to.
I shall have to though.

6)While She Sleeps' The North Stands For Nothing
This is fantastic!

5)Emarosa's Emarosa
I love it!

4)Rolo Tomassi's Cosmology
A most bizarre yet highly entertaining album.

3) Pierce The Veil's Selfish Machines
I love it!
I just love Pierce The Veil in general.

2)Deftones' Diamond Eyes.
Not my favorite ever.
But I do like it.

1)Devil Sold His Soul's Blessed & Cursed
It's not on the very top of my list personally.
But it was pretty fantastic.

Overall 2010 had some amazing albums.
A few that I'd do differently, but we all have our own opinions.

Top Songs Of 2010?

Anyone wanna share their list of top songs of 2010?
I'm still working on mine but as of now it includes:
* If You Think This Song Is About You It Probably Is - D.R.U.G.S
* Welcome To The Family - Avenged Sevenfold
* Fiction - Avenged Sevenfold
* Bulletproof Heart - My Chemical Romance
* Black Metal Bicycle - Cancer Bats
* Don't Go - Bring Me The Horizon ft Lights.

They're in no order at the moment and that's just the beginning of it.
There was a lot of great music this year.
Hopefully a lot more to come in 2011!

D.R.U.G.S Album Release Date!

D.R.U.G.S is set to release their first album on February 22, 2011.
I'm rather excited about it.
I've listened to the 2 singles they've released, as well as listened to 6 songs they performed live in New York via youtube.
I think they're going to do really well.
It is Craig Owens and all.

Ronnie Radke, Max Green, and Craig Mabbitt

This is probably a topic I shouldn't even touch.
But I'm going to anyway.
Escape The Fate & Falling In Reverse.
Personally I'm a big fan of Ronnie Radke.
So maybe this is going to be a bit biased.
Anyhow a few weeks ago I read that Escape The Fate had called off their tour because Max Green had decided to go to rehab.
I thought it was great to see that the band would stand by their members when they needed them the most.
Then today I read an interview on Alternative Press with Ronnie Radke just after being released from jail.
And Ronnie spoke of how Escape the Fate had lied about his arrest and such.
Which is quite true.
But he also said that not one of the members of ETF had tried to contact him while in prison.
Not a letter or anything.
They tried to bring him down though.
Thats terrible.
The whole time I was reading what was going through my mind were things like "How can they do that to him when he was with them for so long?"

As for Max Green I think it's fantastic he's getting clean.
But how could he say things about Ronnie when clearly he was at the same thing.
And they were supposedly such close friends.

Out of this I have learned the world is fucked up place.
And it's really hard to know who's a real friend.

I'm rather excited for Falling In Reverse to put out some new stuff.
I hope they do well.
As for Escape The Fate; I don't hate them.
But maybe a change would do them good.

'When Broken Is Easily Fixed'- Silverstein

Today while listening to Silverstein I did a lot of thinking.
I was listening to their song When Broken Is Easily Fixed.
In the song it says "So ironic that a heart made by man when broken is easily fixed when a human hurt can last a lifetime."
Thats what got me thinking.
Why is it we can fix everything but ourselves?
More often than not things that cause us pain are far too difficult to fix easily.
Things began to get less difficult over time.
But sometimes the pain lasts a lifetime.
Any opinions on this?

Music

As my profile clearly states music is LIFE!
One of the things that amazes me about it is how one song can mean something to one person and then the next person you ask it means something completely different.
Music is like a way to reach out to people.
It's complex,yet simple.
It brings people together.
Sometimes I wonder how many strangers are brought together by music.
Maybe it's the love of a certain band.
Or what a song means to them.
Some people say they don't listen to music.
But I don't think thats true really.
Music is everywhere.
All you have to do is listen.
It might not be there in lyrics and instrumental form,
But I think music shows up everywhere at some point, in some way or another.
I'm going on and on clearly.
Theres so much to say about it though.
It's one of those things.
It may as well be a drug.
Music is my addiction.
A constant part of life.
There's a song for every important moment, weather it be one thats happy or sad, or angry.

Now I'm gonna ask a question.
To anyone who decides to read this, what does music mean to you?
Who's your favorite band/artist?

Questions.

As of now I think maybe I'll start writing on certain topics and asking questions about them.
Maybe they'll lead to more future posts.
Also if anyone ever reads this, you can suggest me a topic to write about.
Or even ask me a question.

On another note
One that also includes change.
This blog is now going to become mostly music based.
More often than not my posts from here on out are going to be based around whats happening in music and my opinions on it.

Dear History Class

Currently I'm in history.
With Maggie whom I've mentioned before.
I question why we need to know what happened in the past.
It's in the past, it's done we can't change it.
We can change the future but clearly not what's already been done.
Unless of course someone wants to take on the tedious and almost impossible task of creating a time machine.
That could be fun maybe.
It'd be a lot of work though.
Anyhow back to history.
Why?
It's so dull.
I don't care to learn about a bunch of old dead guys in wigs who argued over politics.

Maggie's Sarcasm

I have this friend Maggie.
She's rather amazing.
Shes also very talented at many things, sarcasm being one of them.
Every second thing she says is sarcastic.
I never know when she's being serious.
Therefore I always have to ask.
She's so good at it now that she doesn't know if shes being sarcastic or not.
For example there was the one time in English class.
We were supposed to be reading.
So one of our friends turns around and asks her if she's reading.
Maggie said, "No! I'm just staring at the pages!"
And she honestly wasn't sure if she was being sarcastic or not.

Procrastionation.

Procrastination is going to be the death of me.
I know I have a thousand things to do but I still insist upon putting them off as long as possible.
Then when I finally do start them I end up doing things like this in the middle of it when I really don't have the time to.
Sometimes it makes me think better though.
Maybe its a good thing.
Oh who really knows?
