Stitched Up Heart Interview!

I have a special treat tonight :)
An interview done via email with Stitched Up Heart!
Here's the email:

On Thu, Jul 7, 2011 at 6:13 PM, Liv Hickey <oxlivxo@hotmail.com> wrote:
Heey,
I'm Liv (oxlivxo for twitter)
So my questions are pretty basic,
But anyhow, here goes.

1.What got you motivated to start a band?

For me (Mixi) I can't even begin to explain why I chose this path. I think it either started in recorder class in elementary school or when I played the tuba in middle school! Music just drew me in. I picked up a guitar in high school after watching my friends band and my obsession with trying to make this my life went downhill from there!

2.Future plans for the band?

There is so much going on right now. We finally finished the EP "Escape the Nightmare" and found an amazing booking agency that's helping get us on the road more. Inner light agency and Danny Z  just keep popping up new dates for us so we plan on traveling with the EP as much as possible. We are also about to release the music video to "Is this the way you get to Hell."

3.Major influences?

We didn't really think before we write, it just comes out in collaboration. Although we do have people say what we remind them of. I hear a lot of comparison to In This Moment, Bullet for my Valentine, and My Chemical Romance as a girl version though.

4. Favorite bands?

Every time I'm asked that it's shocking to people. i like the old classic stuff. Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Ella Fitzgerald...My all time favorite is The Beatles cause it reminds me of my dad. Mikey Mystery wishes he was Zakk Wylde, Nikki Misery is John 5's twin! Charlee Heart is kinda emo in general. Andrew is a drummer so he has bad taste in stuff in general! jk ^_~

5. How did you come up with your name?

We aren't ready to tell you the answer to that. For now, it's in the eye of the viewer.

6.Any advice for anyone starting a band.

It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time. Everyone seems to think it's an easy gig. If it were easy everyone would do it! We all work very hard on our online numbers. We practice hard, we spend money we don't have to put toward the band, and sacrifice almost everything for the project. Ask a lot of questions, read stories on how people made music into a career, and learn as much as you can. It may look like a lot of fun but it is a business so you have to treat it like one. Last but not least NEVER GIVE UP!

I have no idea if just one of you will be answering these, but if more than one would like to that would be stellar as well :)
Thanks again :)

I did it all for ya! <x3
Mix~

Jared Leto hints that there might not be another 30 Seconds To Mars album

In a recent interview with Kerrang Jared Leto says there may not be another album from 30 Seconds To Mars
When I start a new record it ends up being a pretty involved affair; you need the time, energy and space to appropriately address it," Leto told K! "We're touring probably right until December. We're talking about it right now, but you never know, there could not be another record. We're not bound to continue walking down a path unless we're really inspired to do so" he says.

Matt Nicholls Breaks Hand?

Matt Nicholls, drummer of Bring Me The Horizon broke his hand while playing football with Parkway Drive and Architects.
Of the incident Nicholls says "The ball came to me and I knocked it away with my hands and Winston from Parkway Drive clipped my hand with his foot and there you have it, one broken hand."
He will be seeing a specialist to determine weather surgery will be needed or not.
But he will not be playing for 6 weeks.
Dan Searle of Architects will be taking his place for upcoming BMTH dates.
Matt says "It was an accident and you know, shit happens but I'll tell you now, it's the last time I wear gardening gloves in the net!"
An x-ray of his hand can be seen here http://theadventuresofoliversykes.com/post/5040511683/micks-n-bonez

Sound of the Beast

If you're into reading about music, particularly metal then Ian Christe's "Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal" is for you.
It covers pretty much everything you need to know about heavy metal.
It also includes little boxes defining genres!
http://soundofthebeast.com/splash.html
The website includes playlists and such.
But the book is worth reading.

New Panic! song

Panic! At the Disco have collaborated with Fun on a song called "C'mon"
It can be heard here: http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-panic-fun-collaborate-new-song

It's fantastically catchy!

Versa Emerge covers Katy Perry + some random things.

VersaEmerge did an acoustic cover of Katy Perry's "E.T."
Which can be heard here: http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/versaemerge_cover_katy_perrys_e.t/
I personally think it's amazing.
But maybe it's just because I love the band and  Sierra Kusterbeck really inspires me.
I've been reading interviews she's done with various people,
And I am in love with some of the things she said in one she did with Alternative Press.
http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/chalkboard_versa/
She makes good points about why you should listen to a band.
Points that I agree with 100%.

Justin Beiber vs Slipknot

I have an interesting video to share.
It's Justin Beiber vs Slipknot.
Psychosocial Baby.
I'm not really sure how to feel about it.
But here's the link:

Asking Alexandria banned from Rocketown!

Asking Alexandria have been banned from the Nashville, Tennessee venue Rocketown which they were set to play a show at on April 12th. They have now moved this show to the Cannery Ballroom.
The band was banned due to their "reckless image" which the conservative venue deemed "too controversial"

Personally I think this is ridiculous.
So what if a band looks a certain way.
I honestly don't get why you would ban a group who are going to bring money into your venue and who knows maybe go back again.
But either way,
It;s just plain stupid.

Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain in All Apologies?

Rumor has it that Robert Pattinson is the number one choice to play Kurt Cobain in All Apologies.
Honestly I really don't want that to happen.
Kurt Cobain is God, Robert Pattinson on the other hand is not.
Jonathan Daniel, Courtney Love's manager has said the reports are false.
THANK GOD!
Courtney herself believes that he should not portray Kurt in the upcoming film.
She had posted in her twitter: "That's so stupid, who would cast him? That's just wrong."
I agree 100%

Hopefully someone who fits the part much better will be cast.

New Hit The Lights song!

Hit the Lights have been a long time favorite of mine.

You Had Me At Hello

So I think a ridiculous amount about unusual things at times.
Earlier, I was listening to A Day To Remember and reading Owl City's blog when I remembered my favorite entry Adam Young has ever written. (http://owlcityblog.com/2010/09/06/you-had-me-at-hello/) It was all about these two people with different lives who met up randomly one night by chance when they both couldn't slee and drove until they found somewhere to stop. In the end they fell in love.
I know thats just a story, but that and an A Day To Remember quote, "I'd sworn I'd never trust again but I didn't have to, you had me at hello." caused me to think an immense amount.
Do people actually feel a major connection from the minute they say "Hello" ?
Is it possible to meet trust someone the minute you meet them?
Maybe I'm crazy, but I figure you should get to know a person before you fall madly in love with them or trust them with every detail of your life.
But then again, in my opinion, songs are like modern fairytales in some sense. Many tell the tales of the unattainable things society wants, For example a happy ending.
I guess thats not completely unattainable though, it just seems a little unlikely to me, but at 15 what do I know?Who knows maybe somewhere at this very moment people are proving me wrong.
Maybe two strangers just met and fell in love.
Who knows.
Anyhow
Here's to the unlikely!

Simply taking a break to recharge and focus on different parts of our lives. Much love. All of us have other projects we are excited about and urge you to check them out if you miss us too much. Thanks to everyone who has supported us and given us a reason to exist over the past 11yrs. We hope to see you again 1 day. Until next time..."

Alien Abductions

This is and isn't music related at the same time.
Adam Young aka Owl City always makes me happy.
He writes what I think are positively the best blogs ever.
I recently read on he had written entitled "How To Get Abducted By Aliens.
I must say it made my day.
Although from it I learned that I'll never be abducted by aliens because I injure myself far too often to be of interest to them.
Anyhow you can read the whole article here:http://owlcityblog.com/2010/11/29/how-to-get-abducted-by-aliens/#more-3342

Austin Carlile returns to of Mice & Men

Of Mice & Men announced vocalist Austin Carlile will be returning.
As well as they are adding a new guitarist Alan Ashby.
The bands statement was as follows:

"So an entire year of touring on our debut album has come to an end and the approaching date of entering the studio to make our next album has come closer and closer, it’s become time for us to decide the kind of album we want to make, for us, as well as for all of you!

With having recently made amends with our original vocalist, Austin Carlile, and not after discussing all of our previous disputes and issues we’ve had with each other (like any other relationship, its not always a friendly exchange of happy words) we’ve collectively decided to return to, or as close to, our original lineup as we could.

Now, we knew this was going to be a huge surprise to everyone and an unexpected turn of events for Of Mice & Men. We had to take into account the response our fans had to our necessity to change screamers in order to continue touring as well as what we felt comfortable with as a group in and out of the studio as well as what our management/label/booking agency team (yes we include them in almost any decision we make, we are a close family, a relationship we are extremely grateful for) felt was a good decision to make for the business aspect while taking into account our personal well being.

To be put simply, both OM&M and Austin want to make another album together because we want give our fans the familiar sound they loved about our first album and build upon that for our follow up. We were willing to put our differences aside and re-establish our friendship and love for making music together. We also want to give you all the chance to hear our first album the way it was intended to be heard since due to prior circumstances…well, that’s all in the past now!

We greatly appreciate all of our fans sticking with us in 2010 and supporting the band with Jerry. We are also very grateful that he stepped up to the plate for us and helped us get through the relentless touring schedule we had. With that being said, we are all extremely excited to be reunited and are going to make another album we are proud of, just like the first and we hope you are too! There’s no behind the scenes anything, no huge fall out or disrespect towards anyone, contrary to what you may think or have read/heard. We just want to make the best album we possibly can and we are confident that together, with the reformed lineup, we will be able to make something amazing.

We have also added a new member, Alan Ashby, who will be playing guitar. Assuming the position of bass will be Shayley which as many of you saw on a couple Warped Tour dates was an easy transition for him. He will, of course, still be singing. Tino is on drums, Phil is on guitar and Austin is screaming. A freshly reformed OM&M for 2011."

Paramore Live Chat

I'm watching the Paramore live interview with MTV currently.
So we've seen the blog posted by Zac & Josh Farro.
Now we get to hear from Hayley and the rest of the band.
Clearly music is important to her,
But I myself am really unsure on if she's into the idea of a band or not.
Yeah she says she is
But it does seem like lately it is a lot about her.
In some ways I can understand it with her being a female vocalist within the genre.
But there are other bands with females leads.

I find the whole religion issue, umm well, pointless in my opinion.
It seems as of late many bands are losing members to religion.

You can still be religious and do music.

So I guess I'm not really taking sides on this.
Because I like the band and after reading and listening to both sides I see that there are some faults of all of them.

I think it's great that the rest of the  band is going to go on though.

Anyone else have opinions on this?

"And I know that you're a sucker for anything acoustic."

I'm a sucker for acoustic.
So I thought that lyric fit the title appropriately seeing how once again Twitter has led me to more great music.
This time it's acoustic, in case you didn't already figure that out.
A guy called Steve Salazar.
He's pretty good!

Music of the decade.

Two of my friends have put together videos on Best bands of the decade. In their opinion.
I can agree with them for the most part.
Although I wouldn't have picked Slipknot as the number one.
It was done in two separate videos:
